At the age of 9, mom learned to sew which commenced her creative journey and love for traditional crafting. Her life was enriched by stories and knowledge passed down by her grandparents and she ensures they live on by sharing those teachings with her children and grandchildren. When I asked mom if I could introduce social media to her crafts, she told me sure, one thing though, I said sure, anything…… I do not want my name online. There are too many scammers and people taking advantage of elders/seniors. She incorporated elements of her traditional values and teachings, cooking and crafting into her community classes and healing groups. She continues to share her stories and knowledge to others through programs like Indigenous Women in Leadership at the Banff Centre.
