About
Hi, my name is Bertha I was born and raised in a small community in Northern Alberta, located near Lesser Slave Lake.
When Covid changed our lives by eliminating all gatherings, pow wows, and conferences (educational, chief, or any treaty meetings here in Canada) My traditional values are my native culture, history, and handmade craft. My father was a proud angler and our family lived off the land.
At the age of nine, I learned to sew which started my creative journey and love for traditional crafting. My life stories and knowledge passed down by my grandparents, and extreme trauma being a survivor of Indian Residential Schools in Canada. As a strong resilient Cree Woman, I survived Indian Day Schools in Canada as well.
I have elements of traditional values and teachings and crafting community classes and healing groups. I do share stories and knowledge to others through programs like Indigenous Women in Leadership at the Banff Centre.
