OUR STORY
Suquamish Seafood Enterprises (SSE) is a fully-chartered business entity of the Suquamish Tribe Port Madison Indian Reservation. We are located on the Kitsap Peninsula in the State of Washington in the ancestral home of Chief Sealth also known as Chief Seattle. We carry on the traditional subsistence practices of the Puget Sound. Our reservation borders the west side of Central Puget Sound and this area is home to many fish and shellfish species. Many tribal members harvest these fish and shellfish resources throughout Puget Sound waters.
Established in 1996 by tribal charter SSE was formed to develop seafood markets for tribal fishermen as well as market the bountiful harvests of geoduck clams that populate the tribe’s surrounding waters. It is a benefit for the tribal members via seafood sustainability, subsistence living, and to support the tribal economy as a whole. We have been able to have access to ancestral lifestyle of subsistence life.
